Work Hard, Play Hard

I've been struggling the past few weeks...work has gotten intense with my 1 year review approaching and the multiple projects I'm working on. I try to stay really good about my work/life balance and setting clear boundaries for each, but I've been working what feels like non-stop just to stay on top of things. I think by the end of the month things will 'settle down' into their normal rhythm, and I'm definitely looking forward to that. The other 'light at the end of the tunnel'? I GET TO GO HOME THIS WEEK!!!!!!!! Lacey is getting married on Saturday and I'll be flying home for that, and I am SO EXCITED to go home, relax, go to the wedding, and spend time with my family. Here's to hoping I can make it through the flight without going crazy (I *hate* flying)...

Even with having to do a ton of work, I still managed to have some fun:

There have been a few 'art' pieces in the harbor - can you see the tightrope walker? Not a real person, of course, but still makes you stop and do a double take

I *love* my new scarf from Anthropologie - I got it on sale!

Had a coupon for buy-one-get-one cupcakes from Crumbs, so I got a cookie dough one, and a mudslide cheesecake one (I think) - both were tasty, but still not like my red velvet from Kickass Cupcakes

Nothing beats Oprah and kimchee pancakes :)

Happy Cinco de Mayo! No wait...that's not right...

Happy 4th of July!!! There we go :) Han and James threw a 4th of July BBQ at their place and it was awesome - relaxing, good food, good friends

James made a 10-spice burger that was delicious and they also soaked brats in hard cider (excellent flavor)

Grown up fruit (yep, that's cherry vodka being emptied into that watermelon)

The guys - can't wait for them to move in!

Han serenaded us on the ukulele

James and I tossed around the ol' pigskin (does it sound like I know what I'm talking about? cause I don't...)

Finished it all off with apple pie and vanilla ice cream - doesn't get much more all-American than that!

I was reading an article in Oprah about jealousy and found this Buddhist word. I thought it was interesting so now it's my phone's background (going to try to keep it top-of-mind)

Not a whole lot going on this week, but there should be a bunch next week from my visit home and the wedding!

  1. I love the way you did the scarf shot--wonderful colors. I am almost fifty and have never had a spiked watermelon! You didn't say if you tried it...

    1. I love love love the scarf - it's my new favorite accessory :)

I did try it, but didn't like it at all...a) I don't like cherry flavored anything and b) I don't like the taste of liquor (any kind)...
