New Adventures

Hi y'all! So...some big news I've been holding onto for a few weeks...but I have a NEW JOB!!! I stopped working at ConnectEDU about a month ago and I'll be starting my brand new shiny job as a sales rep for a software company next week!! This is pretty exciting for me - I've wanted to work in sales for a really long time (basically since I took a sales course in college and was like 'hey, I could really be good at this!') and I'm so stoked to finally be working in this field for a really awesome company. I'll let you all know how it goes as soon as I get started!

Dad and Benjamin left about a week ago, so I've just been adjusting to 'normal life' (i.e. not playing tour guide). Not a ton of pictures to share this week, but here ya go!

Very excited to get a new phone case for my iPhone5 by Kate Spade (only $9 off of Amazon!). Great message inside the cover...

At church group last week I was introduced to a New England specialty (notice the spelling of 'watermelon')

I have to say, it was actually really good! Super refreshing :)

Was going through old pictures and came across this gem from college...(yes I used to have a lip ring...ah I was such a rebel) ;-)

Last Thursday - enjoyed a bit of time at the BPL

...and then headed out with Andy to grab drinks. First up, a Kir Royale at Drink

Beautiful view from the rooftop deck of Atlantic Beer Garden

Gosh I love this city...

On Friday, CJ and I went out to get our dance on at Storyville - can you believe it's just a short walk from CJ's apartment AND no cover?!? What a find...

Reflections in the ceiling - such a fun night!

She knows how to make me laugh! :)

Lately I've really gotten into experimenting with make up (normally I use the same 5 beauty products and roll out the door). Maybe one of these days I'll get around to doing a beauty post or 2 on how a Make Up Newb tries different looks :)

And finally....lunch for this week - so easy, and pretty healthy! I got pre-made whole wheat pizza dough from Whole Foods and topped it with pizza sauce, tomatoes (marinated in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and sliced garlic), fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil - DELISH.

Now to go get ready for church group....

The visit continued...

Dad and Benjamin are flying back tomorrow morning...here are the rest of the pictures from their visit!

This is how Benjamin fell asleep the other night...with my stuffed lobster on top of him :)

On Saturday night Benjamin and I went on a secret mission to prepare for Dad's birthday and Father's Day

"to my bestest dad ever!"

Sunday morning we woke up early to make Special Day Pancakes for Dad!

Happy Father's Day Daddio!

After breakfast, out to the Davis Square Flea Market

Of course Dad found the comic books...

Om nom nom - it doesn't get much better than this!

Delicious :)

The boys chowing down

Remember that pit stop at Modern? This is what we got....(be jealous) ;-)

And that brings us to today - we let Benjamin lead the way and pick our stops. We got off at Charles MGH and walked down Charles St. and into the Boston Common

Another sword fight

Stumbled upon Brattle Book Store on West St - I got 6 books for $1 each!

Onto some sweet treats from the Cookie Monstah food truck (I got salted caramel cookies with oreo ice cream)

Noshin' on our goodies

Now we're in for the evening for some relaxation. It's been a fantastic week!!!

Dad and Benjamin in Boston!

My dad and brother are here!!! We've been having a blast going around Boston - it's always fun showing my city off. I discover something new every time!

First, a few photos from earlier in the week and then the past few days of their visit:

Oh a whim, I stopped into Darul Kebab and got some veggie samosas and garlic naan - DELICIOUS and cheap (all this food for $8)

Latest literary endeavor

Trying out a new look - what do y'all think?

Cheesecake in a cup! I was craving cheesecake and lucky for me I had all the ingredients and made up a recipe that turned out pretty tasty:

~

3 tbsp cream cheese, 1 egg, 3 tbsp sugar, 1 (heaping) tbsp Nutella, 1 tbsp sour cream
Mix well in large mug (I used my immersion blender), cook in microwave until done in 30 second increments
Chill in fridge for an hour (or freezer for 20-30 minutes if you're impatient like me)
Top with crumbled graham cracker and strawberries

~

Taking a relaxing ride with Andy

Rooftop BBQ with Niraj and Lawrence - they have an awesome view

Straight up chillaxin

NOMS

Niraj - proud of his work :)

Gorgeous suset

FINALLY - I know this isn't a huge deal, but I've been working for months to get my average score over 250,000 lol

Dad and Benjamin finally here!

First stop, the Museum of Science

Shocking themselves

The Sorcerer

*cheese*

Learning all about electricity and currents

Van de Graaff generator (creates the electric current)

Lunch in Chinatown at Hong Kong Eatery

Absolutely PHENOMENAL roast duck - Dad was sooooooooo happy

Benjamin loved his vegetable lo mein

And I had Chinese sausage and roast pork over rice - delicious!

After that lunch, we needed to do something relaxing to let our food settle...what better way to do that than to ride the Swan Boats?

:)

Gorgeous day

The actual swans

Followed by dessert at Max Brenner - Benjamin got the kid's pizza

...while Daddio opted for the molten chocolate cake

Chowin' down

Rounded out the day with a stop into the Boston Public Library

Yesterday we visited the USS Constitution

He was SO EXCITED to explore the boat!

Benjamin got an American flag that's been flown on the USS Constitution (which can only be purchased on the boat!)

Parting shot

Benjamin is soooooooo happy we're finally getting lunch (you'd think he hadn't eaten in days)

Dad and Sam La'Grassa

Today was a low key day - I had an appointment and errands to run this morning and then we checked out B&G Oysters. Dad and I had watched this show on Netflix called "The Best Food Ever" and this place was listed on the episode about sandwiches...of course I had to try it :)

A bright and refreshing interior

Loved the unique light fixtures

Had to get the lobster roll (featured on the show) - it was AMAZING. Light and lemony, with house-made pickles and slaw, crisp hot fries....om nom nom it was soooooooooo gooooooooood...

So much more to see and do! Can't wait to show you all what happens the rest of the trip :)
